MySpace in Schools?
Should students be allowed to view MySpace pages in school?

yes, yes, yes when students are in the computer lab working on a class assignment and they finish early they should be able to do whatever on the computer icluding being able to go on myspace. but only if they have completed all assignments
Yes. Kids who have a myspace should be alloud to if whenever there in the computer lab finished with their work. And its safe because now a days we have private profiles and if someone wants to add u they need to know your last name for some people if they have that. soo its safe and it should be alloud because like everyone has 1.
Okayy seriously some of these poeple dony even know what they are talking about. myspace is not bad or no one would have them. its on private and like if people want to add you they have to send a friend request and if you dont know them you can block the persson. and what can the students go on everything is blocked. theres nothing for them to do when they are done with an assignment. I also think that aim/ aol should be unblocked because uyou can check your mail. photobucket shouldnt be blocked because what if you need a picture for projects.
I strongly believe that the people who said 'no', are the teachers in this building. I think that we should be able to use myspace in school because if you have free time in the computer lab or the classroom, you should be able to go on myspace or aol instant messanger (aim). Myspace is nothing bad at all, its not like us, the kids in this school, are going to be talking to someone that we don't know and give out information that shouldn't be given out to strangers. We are much more careful than that. We all know from the very beginning to not talk to strangers, and if we were, then we would definitly not do it in the school. Also, Myspace can be used in many good ways, suppose a kid is sick at home and the class is in the computer lab or something, a friend from the sick kid could contact the friend and ask 'what's for homework?'. If you think about this situation deeply enough, you will find that having Myspace in school is a good thing.
Honestly, this will probably one of the tougher issues for students to deal with, and the easiest for us adults to shoot down. In reality, myspace is not used for homework help, just for socializing. And what do kids do when they are done with work? Socialize in a loud, disrespectful manner. How about do it online quietly? And th eonly concern for the school and parents should be keeping students safe and the school (staff included) safe. Kids are smart enough to make myspaces under fake names and to not give out potentially harmful info! As far as the school, an agreement between parents/administeration must be administered and aproved for this activity and that in the case of a child being harmed by myspace (predators) that a lawsuit can't be filed. And anyways, I'm sure that kids already know how to override the system!
why do we even have a blog about this? All the kids already know the teachers/staff wont accpet myspace. Even when -i know- some teachers actually do have myspace. So again, it doesnt matter what we say. we all know you guys wont aprove of it.
why are all these parents blogging about this your kids are all hard at work all day long it would be nice to be able to have free time and use myspace at school most kids dont have time to go on myspace at home because their too busy catering to their lazy parentss so relax myspace is safeer then ever and if your kids are smart you dont have to worry about them talking to old guys and strangers chiilllllllllllllll let yur kids be kidss
Okay, every website is blocked and even in class if we have to research some stuff, things are blocked. Myspace, i feel shoudlnt be blocked because its something to do after an assignment, or at least block other websites.
alrightt. well i think that myspace should be alloowed and along with some other websites. because all the students that do their work and finish during class have nothing to do. adn myspace reallly isnt all that badd. i meann woww everything blocked nothing workss seriously these computerss are verryy annoying. its boring in school and i think it would be more enjoyable with it unblocked.. so please for the sake of the students unblockk itt. :)

I know tons of kids who just hide there myspaces from there parents. so the person who said "My children are not allowed to use myspace at home. Please do not allow it in the schools!" they probley are you dont no! Myspace is sooooo safe to Just dont tell people your address and you'll be cool! luckly i dont have to hide mine cause thats just dumb!

Absolutely not. My space and meebo are already a huge distraction at home. School is for school work, and real life interaction.

Myspace should be allowed in Wyandot.On Myspace children can ask questions about homework, and school related subjects on Myspace.

Sure some teachers could use Myspace to interact with their students, but for the most part...it would just be a distraction!
