SCHOOL UNIFORMS

Research shows that schools who impliment a strict uniform policy for students have reduced incidents of bullying, increased acheivment levels, and families spend less on clothing per year. Wadaya think? Uniforms for Wyandot MS?

Yes, I think the kids should have uniforms so long as we dont have to tuck in shirts. Fair comprimise, I think. Uniforms will allow higher academic scores, and increase school budget which can ease the schools minds. Also, bullying abolished would help kids focus, and kids are put on a status based on how expensive clothing is or how much skin they expose. Even if i was a half uniform (a standard polo shirt) I think it would help a great deal.
Alos, it will save much of the staff's time.

In greater concern, though I do vote "yes" I think it would be- well, Unfair if students had to tuck in shirts being that you stood to make that a punishment for kids who show their underwear! That isn't fair and would violate the 1st amendment.

NO!! This is not fair for the kids who follow the school rules for how they dress. Some kids like the way they look in there clothes not in uniforms they are ugly. Now if you want to change something change the pizza from peperoni to cheese something everyone can eat because you guys have some Muslim kids in your school even tough my daughter and son are not well my whole family isn't they have friends that are Muslims. And if you guys go off saying no that's there fault that's like being racist. Think about that for a change.

umm no thank you because i like having personal style for me it is just being like everyone else if we get the uniforms and i am staying away from that. and to be honest with you i think of it as there being more bullying because not everyone is going to look exactly the same in the uniforms some will look different so the other students will definitly still make fun of other kids saying that oh they look fat in theirs or eww her hair is ugly with our uniform....people pick other people apart no matter what...just sayin.

nnnnnnoooooooooo way we are all entilted to express ourselves and we cant express ourselves if were wearing ugly uniforms and looking like EVERYONE it called individuality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree with the one above
mine i mean
seriously DUH!!!

These are excerpts from these posts: "This is not fair", "that's like being racist", "I like having personal style", "we are all entitled to express ourselves".

Do corporate executives or lawyers where t-shirts?

Do fast food servers wear suits?

Get used to it people...dress codes and rules are a way of life!

I like the "entitled" one the best.
You are not ENTITLED to anything.

You may earn what you get. If you earn the PRIVILEDGE of no uniforms then so be it. Start earning.

Next thing ya know they'll be "entitled" to drive over the speed limit. Get a grip kids.

If the school wear to impliment the rule of a strict uniform policy would not bode over well with the students. Chippewa Valley may be considered "a blue ribbon whatever" but lets face it, our school district sucks. chippewa Valley is far from perfect, and uniforms would outrage the students. I bet they're itchy and uncomfortable. Its bad enough next year the students will be forced to wear lanyards with they're I.D. cards, but bad looking uncofortable uniforms? Give me a break! There will always be bullying and unrighteous acts against students by students, why increase the anger of those troubled students further? I am a student and boy could I tell you how many times I have been screwed over by not only the students, but the district as well. Wyandot is not a private school. The students should enjoy themselves why they're here. If you force them to wear uniforms, they will grow to resent the school district, much as I have.

It saddens me to hear that you resent the school district. Also, that you have been screwed over by both students and the district. Further, that students will ALWAYS be unrighteous to others. Why are you accepting of this? Don't you want a better place to learn? One where you truely could "enjoy" yourself and be safe. I think you would.

I do not know where your resentment stems from, however, you should not be resentful to those things that are trying to accomplish making your stay in Chippewa Valley Schools more enjoyable. If uniforms and/or ID laynards will reduce, even by one, the number of unrightious acts between students then that's a good thing. Isn't it?

It appears that it is NOT the school district that is making your stay unenjoyable it is the STUDENTS!

I pay taxes so you can go to school. You are not there to "enjoy" yourself. You are there to learn. Enjoy yourself on your own time not mine!

If you have to wear a uniform and laynard great. Get over it.

Go into the army and see if they let you where what you want so you can enjoy yourself.

Im a student too. If everyone would obey the rules we have now you wouldnt need new ones. Start being nicer to each other. We are all in this together.

OK, i see everyone's points and everything about their childen being at school to learn, but, think of it from a students point of view. They will be to angry to pay attention and to any work at all, the only thing they will want to do is complain, also there will be rebellious students because believe me they will not have any of it and i am not going to lie, i will definitely be one of those students and who knows how we will do it. On another hand, what about some of the families that are in trouble and cant afford much more things for the school, let alone uniforms.

To the person that said "get used to it people" and "Get a grip kids" that really angered me as a student because, one we are not quite yet adults and cant get jobs right now so i don't think it is something to worry about, also when we do get jobs we don't care about uniforms because it is a job and when we have them WE FEEL ACCOMPLISHMENT AND LIKE WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO WEAR THAT UNIFORM.also we will be making money...just sayin, but we are just in school so a uniform is nothing we will feel accomplished or happy about. also we are ENTITLED to things and you know that. I think that we do earn the right to wear what we want because if you haven't noticed some kids that haven't followed the dress code in the past are now.and guess what, we are beginning to GET A GRIP because that is some other things the teachers are teaching us, more responsibility and the reality. so don't go around blaming every child in the school for something one kid might have done. by the way, i hope you enjoy your future generation :] ** that's a smart pants smirk, just to let you know**

Im a student at Wyandot Middle School. I think that it would help some of the bullying issue if uniforms were required. I have seen people get bullied for there choce in clothing, but maybe they like their clothing. I dint think our school should have uniforms, it would make many people I know unhappy. I agree with oe statement above, if people are going to bully you they will find a way. They can say, "She looks fat in that!" or, "His hair looks disgusting!" Nothing will stop bullying. It might prevent some, but not all. Also, on the attention on the lesson point, it might help and it may not. Kids may not learn as well if they are unhappy with their clothing, or uniform. If you would like to take this seriously you should take a school poll to have the opion of my fellow students and I.

I think kids should not wear school uniforms because it does not give kids a chance to express their selfs!!!

Anonymous said...

i think we should, why not?

Anonymous said...

NO!! We should be able to wear our own clothes!! That is so unfair to have 'uniforms'. Everyone would just look the same and boring!

Anonymous said...

if you claim that clothing is so important and essential to epressing yourself, then your not very creative. What are you going to do if you want to be a doctor: burn you white coat?

Anonymous said...

I don't think that is a very good idea, because kids should be able to wear what they want to wear. Some kids have personal styles. It is not far for the kids that follow the dress code. It's just me but no body should look the same. Everyone has their own unique style. I love to wear what I want to wear! It makes me confident! This is just my opnion but i dont think school uniforms would be a great idea
